TaiwanPlus, a New Global English-Language Video Streaming Platform, Launches in 2022 Taiwan Original SeriesMore titled “Road to Legacy,” which is a 10-episode docuseries detailing these 10 groups’ journey to fame in Taiwan. On January 17, 2022, TaiwanPlus is hosting the world premiere at Legacy Taipei, with the docuseries launching exclusively and free worldwide via www.TaiwanPlus.com on the same day.

Following the positive reception of the TaiwanPlus Film Festival, which was a selection in line of 10 iconic Taiwanese films, the platform is now looking to Bring Taiwan to the world through the country’s vibrant independent music scene,” said Joanne Tsai, CEO of TaiwanPlus.

Produced by TaiwanPlus, “Road to Legacy” is a co-production with Legacy Taipei, a live house institution in Taiwan that has hosted many renowned international and Taiwanese bands since 2009. Executive producer Tien Tsung Ma says, “Contemporary Taiwanese music will from electronic music, rock, folk to hip-hop, and this docuseries is a timely snapshot of the Taiwanese music scene.Shot over a period of 2.5 years, the docuseries unveils the true side of these artists musical, sharing their personalities, their philosophy and their vision.

Among the ten groups presented, Tizzy Bac, ABAO and Namewee acquired the most international presence. Tizzy Bac was established in 1999, offering a unique style of indie rock by incorporating jazz, alternative rock and electronic elements into their music. While Taiwanese indigenous R&B artist ABAO is hailed as a symbol of culture and heritage across Taiwan for her unique music. Malaysian artist and musician, Namewee is known for pop and hip-hop, having attracted followers in East and Southeast Asia as a passionate and outspoken campaigner for injustice and inequality . Her work was banned in China due to her song “Fragile Heart”.

The docuseries will air in three episodes, beginning with episodes on Tizzy Bac, 88BALAZ, and Nighteentael on January 17. The remaining episodes will be available in February (PA PUN BAND, Dadado Huang and Sweet John) and March (Namewee, ABAO, The Next Big Thing and LINION).
