Struggling Dakkada FC left it late to beat former champions, Kano Pillars in their Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) Week 11 match played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo yesterday.
It was a happy homecoming for Dakkada who had played his last three home matches at Benin City, where he was banned following the horrific matchday four incidents against Remo Stars in Uyo.
Consequently, the Akwa Ibom State team did not find life pleasant in Benin as they lost 0-1 to Wikki Tourists in Week 7 and drew 0-0 with the Rangers in Week 9.
However, Dakkada returned home yesterday on a winning note as they managed to beat Kano Pillars 1-0 for their third win of the season.
The game’s only goal came in the 85th minute when Pillars goalkeeper Joshua Enahalo slapped in Uwana Asuquo’s 25-yard free kick which allowed Musa Bashiru to calmly grab the rebound.
In the other Week 11 game played yesterday, Nasarawa United held hosts Abia Warriors to a 1-1 draw and Mohammed Shammasu was once again the visitors’ hero.
Former Wikki Tourists and FC IfeanyiUbah striker Godwin Obaje gave the Abia Warriors an early lead in the 3rd minute when he nodded from a brilliant free kick from Paul Sampson, but in his usual characteristic, the super-sub, Shammasu, came off the bench. to level the scores in the 82nd minute for Nasarawa United.
Seven of the remaining Week 11 fixtures will be played at match venues today, with the featured match being the game between Plateau United and Rivers United in Jos.
