Couple save money for wedding offers to shovel snowy driveways in Needham – CBS Boston

NEEDHAM (CBS) — Malayna Johnson and Michael Knox are getting married next summer. “We’re doing everything to have a complete wedding and celebrate this long journey that we’ve been on,” Johnson said.

A trip that included nearly six years of long distance, with Michael living in England. And while they legally wed in October 2021, Johnson explained, “unfortunately they had closed the borders and his parents, his mother couldn’t come for our little legal ceremony.”

So the Framingham couple are saving up for the wedding day they’ve always dreamed of.

“We tried to find odd jobs to do to save money for our wedding,” Johnson said.

This includes an offer to shovel driveways, driveways and steps this weekend, to great response after posting to Facebook on Thursday evening.

“The last storm we posted it and we got a few people. And so we saw a big storm was coming so we posted again and we got an overwhelming 60+ people that got us contacted,” Johnson said, adding, “We had a lot of people who kept telling us that you should charge by the hour, charged by the size of the aisle.

The couple starts on Saturday afternoon, with a busy schedule throughout the weekend. “Sunday we start as early as 7:30 p.m. and finish at 6 p.m.,” Johnson said.

“I’m going to do a good workout. It’s going to be worth it,” Knox said.
