A Karnataka farmer was humiliated in a car showroom. He got a comeback

The farmer had gone to buy a Bolero pickup when a salesman allegedly rudely asked him to leave.

A Karnataka farmer who went to a showroom to buy an SUV was humiliated by the salesman who sneered he could barely afford a car. The farmer issued a challenge and returned with the money within an hour, in a scenario straight out of the movies. The seller apologized.

Videos of the incident, which took place at a Mahindra showroom in Tumakuru in Karnataka on Friday, were widely shared and even reported to Anand Mahindra on Twitter.

The farmer, Kempegowda, had gone to buy a Bolero pickup when the salesman allegedly reprimanded him rudely and asked him to leave.

The car is worth Rs 10 lakh, the seller said, and “you probably don’t even have Rs 10 in your pocket”. He fired Kempegowda because of his appearance, the farmer and his friends claim.

An argument erupted and Kempegowda challenged the seller to arrange same-day delivery of an SUV if he brought the money within the hour.

He came back with money. As expected, the stunned sales manager couldn’t handle the instant delivery – the waiting list is usually long. It would take him no less than four days to deliver his car.

Furious, Kempegowda and his friends demanded an apology and more heated words were exchanged, until the police intervened and broke up the fight.

The sales manager finally apologized to Kempegowda. “I don’t want to buy a car from your showroom,” the farmer said as he walked away with his Rs 10 lakh.
